Baby Shower #2-May 16

Hey Quinny,

We went to a second shower this weekend for you and it was so nice. Angie and Erin hosted the shower and your grandparents, aunts, cousin, and lots of Mommy's friends came. They all brought you lots of cute and useful stuff. Mommy's pretty sure there is nothing left to buy you, which is awesome. It was so good to see everyone who I haven't seen in a while and those that I only get to see at work. Angie and Erin did such a cute job with the invitations, cake, food, and decoration and you were definitely enjoying the punch! And, as usual, all of the girls looked so cute. Here are a bunch of pictures of the shower.

Weeks 25-29

Wow Quinn,

It's been quite a few weeks--wonderful and flying by! Your dad and I have moved closer to work and closer to your grandmas'--all three of them! The new place is much smaller than our old house but the convenience is really wonderful. So we've been to the doctor a few times and you are healthy and strong as ever. You're moving all around and kicking and still hiccoughing! Mommy loves those things but there are a few discomforts I'm starting to feel as well like being uncomfortable sitting and sleeping. But overall, I still can't complain, you've been very easy!!

Here's a bump picture on April 12 at 25 weeks--definitely looking pregnant!

Mommy's work had a shower for us today and it was wonderful. There were so many people there from work and your Grammy and Daddy. The room was decorated so cute and you got a lot of cute clothes and toys and gear. You're one lucky baby. We played two games that were so fun. One was a game where different candy bars were melted into a diaper and we had to look and smell to figure out which diaper had which candy bar--it was hilarious watching everyone see the "mess' and smell the diapers. Your Daddy actually won this game which means he should be on diaper duty, don't you think! Then there was a basket full of separate little socks and each person had to try to pair as many as possible in 20 seconds. Mommy got the most--11 pairs-and the second fastest person got 9. Then a lot of people got 8 and so on. So, it sounds like the "pair" of us might make good parents after all!

Jennifer made this adorable diaper cake--it is soooo cute I don't even want to take it apart!

Priscilla's cousin made this cake. Not only was it adorable, it was good!!

The room was decorated so cute. The girls, and Justin, worked really hard and I am so thankful for them going out of their way for us.

A few of the game shots...

And, we got tons of presents--way more than we would have thought and it was so much fun seeing all the cute stuff!!

Weeks 20-24

Hi Poppy!!!

It's sure been a long time, or at least it seems so. We've had so much going on these last few weeks with a vacation, selling our house, and getting things ready for you that it's been hard to sit down and update your blog. But the next few weeks are not going to get any better so Mommy better just take this time now while your Daddy is still sleeping (she can't wait until you're born and he doesn't get to sleep in so late!!) and write.
We had a wonderful vacation the 2nd week of March, when you were 20 weeks, and you were an awesome sport. You enjoyed eating so much cruise food and Mommy's afraid that you're only going to like soft serve ice cream because there was no shortage on the ship and you already have taste buds! You swam with dolphins in Roatan, rode on the back of a scooter around the entire island of Cozumel, and drove a golf cart around Costa Maya. You are already very adventurous and Mommy hopes you'll love being outside hiking and walking and hopefully running as well as your Grammy Wandie and Auntie Megan.

This is Mommy at exactly 20 weeks, only 20 more weeks until you're due, in our cabin on the cruise ship.
You seem to have been some good luck for us this month. We got a sold our house and are leasing it back for a month which means by the time we move at the end of April, Mommy will be useless for carrying boxes (thanks Quinn!!!). Daddy's been trying to figure out how he's going to arrange your furniture in your new room. Which, speaking of furniture, lookie here. Your crib and toy chest are totally done and Daddy even put in your bedding to surprise Mommy when she came home. It looks so awesome. Your Daddy is very, very talented.

Oh and your Grammies got your stroller already and Daddy put it together and has been wheeling it all around the house! It's awesome and we can't wait to get you in there and show you off.
We also had a couple of sonograms this month and you are getting so big. These pictures were taken on 4/1 when you were 23 weeks and 3 days. You were moving all over the place yet yawning. Most people would think this is strange, but Mommy yawns even when she's working out so it makes perfect sense to her! At our last sonogram, you were sucking your thumb. It was quite cute! Daddy is able to feel you kicking and hiccoughing more and more these days. I guess since you weigh 1 1/2 pounds already, you're not so hard to feel. Mommy feels you all day long!

Ahh the yawning--we love the yawning! Seeing your cousin Ellie over the last month, we know these yawns will be a normal occurrence.

Here's another side profile. It looks like you have a cute, little nose.

You're looking at us dead on in this picture. It was hard to catch with you moving around so much!

Week 19

Hi Poppy,

You know we really do have a name for you and we love it, but we are so fond of Poppy that it will definitely stick as your nickname. You real name will be Quinn, though Mommy and Daddy are trying to figure out if we want to spell it with one or two n's. Actually, Mommy want two and Daddy wants one and we haven't agreed yet on the spelling so since Mommy writes this blog, she'll keep it with two n's and hope she win this one!

These pictures are from your sonogram last week when we found out you were a girl. There is one with you facing right at us which is pretty cool. You definitely look bigger than the last sonogram which, at 7oz and about 5.5", you sure are. You're actually the size of a large mango this week at 1/2 lb and 6". Mommy has officially gained 10 lbs and has nothing to wear that fits! Oh and Mommy can feel you hiccough sometimes. It seems to be when she's lying down to go to bed. Your little head is right on her lower left side of her abdomen and that is right where she feels them. It's pretty neat and she wishes Daddy could feel them too, but she knows in time you'll be kicking so hard, he'll be able to feel that. Your Auntie Megan did get Mommy and Daddy a heartbeat monitor that presses against Mommy's belly and your heartbeat plays. It's amazing and gives Mommy a sense of peace that everything is going ok in there for you.

Daddy has primed your crib and is now getting ready to paint and today the paint for the stripes on your crib sides is going to be bought. We'll show you those pictures soon. But it probably won't be before you go on your first vacation this weekend. We're going on a cruise which you will become pretty familiar with. Mommy is excited because she can eat all she wants and these days that is all she wants to do. You seem to have a pretty big appetite!

POPPY'S A GIRL!!!

POPPY,

We had a big week! You didn't make it easy for the sonographer, you were pretty much doing gymnastics while she was looking at you, but she was able to see that you are a girl and you weigh 7 oz! Your Auntie Kim asked if Mommy had orange juice that morning and sure enough, she had. So we guess your acrobatics were not all your fault, I loaded you up with sugar! Your Daddy and I thought you were a girl since the very beginning but two of your grandmas, we won't name names, were sure you were a boy! Let me assure you that they are thrilled that you are a girl so don't worry about that! Mommy cried when we found out and Daddy said he had a little tear, but Mommy couldn't see so she is sure it was more than that--you know Daddy tries to be pretty tough-ha!

After we found out we went to your Grammies' house and all three Grandmas were there as well as your Auntie Megan and new cousin Ellie (you're going to love her-she's about six months older than you) and pulled out a little girl outfit to tell them that you're a girl. There were plenty of screams and hugs going around and some chaotic phone calling to your Auntie Kim, Karlie, and Uncle Mark. Then your great grandparents came over and got to find out too. Everyone is so excited to meet you.

Mommy's got more to tell you. It's really been a busy week. Daddy has been building your crib and toy chest and is done with everything except painting. It looks wonderful and we already had your sister Sami test fit the crib so we know you'll fit perfectly. We bought you bedding for your crib last night that is the exact same as your cousin Ellie's so now we need to go buy paint for the stripes on the side of the crib and toy chest.

This is the side of your crib and Daddy has to do the same work for this as on the toy chest. But all the building is complete. He's been working very hard and you will have the best crib!

This is the front of your toy chest. Daddy has to paint the entire toy chest white and the stripes different colors to coordinate with your bedding.
