Hey Quinn,
I think this may be our last post. You're due in a week and a half and I am hoping you get here before that, but will try to be patient! We went to the doctor today and we're not dilated at all but your heartbeat is strong and all looks good, so I think you're just too comfy. We'll see you when you're good and ready at this point.
Here are a couple of pictures of Mommy at 38 weeks and 2 days--
Look how great your nursery looks. Daddy made almost everything in there--the crib, toy chest, and shelving unit.
Pregnancy Stats:
Weight gained: right at 50 pounds
When I actually looked pregnant: about 5 1/2 months
Favorite foods: doughnuts, pop tarts, pretty much anything junky--hence the 50 pounds!
Foods I usually love but didn't sound as good as they used to: pizza, french fries, ice cream
Strange food cravings: really none, but I did want root beer and I hadn't had soda in more than three years. I went for diet, caffeine-free root beer for a while and then Sprite and went back to water only midway through
Things I never believed when I heard other moms say would happen to me but are very true:
You won't be able to tie your shoes--this happened at about 7 months!
You can't see your feet--I have decent-sized fee but my belly sure passed those up!
You'll have bad heartburn--I never had heartburn before but I guess when your stomach is basically in your throat, food doesn't have anywhere to go!
You won't be able to sleep--no joke, I must have gone to the bathroom 5-7 times a night--poor Daddy!
You'll have trouble going to the bathroom--more than one reason for this...I won't go into detail!
Favorite thing about being pregnant: feeling you move, kick, hiccough, roll over. You were very active so I always knew everything was ok.
Biggest challenge/discomfort: extreme swelling, in my hands, feet, ankles and calves. The very worst part was that my hands got so swollen I had to get my wedding ring and band cut off two weeks ago. I wanted to cry. But it was also hard to go down stairs b/c my skin on the top of my foot would rub against my ankle front! My feet would swell around my shoes and I'd have major marks from the edges of my shoes on my feet! I eventually had to wear flip flops only in the last month of pregnancy. And I got sweaty feet in the last month of pregnancy.
Dad's favorite part of pregnancy: building the crib and preparing the nursery; watching you move in Mommy's belly; hearing your heartbeat
Dad's biggest challenge of pregnancy: having to tie Mom's shoes; having to walk super slow at all the stores to keep up with Mom; always bumping into Mom's belly when walking by
Quinny we cannot wait to meet you. You are already so loved and you will always be incredibly loved. Now just come on out so we can show you how much we love you!!
