4 weeks old already!

I've had quite a good last three and a 1/2 weeks. I still sleep a lot and eat even more, but I'm starting to be awake more and look at everything that's going on. I can hold my head up if Mommy or Daddy are holding me under my arms or if I'm on someone's chest. I've also been able to roll to my side since I was a week old and last week I rolled from my side to my belly, back to my side, and finally onto my back. I'm also able to stand when someone holds me under my arms and usually I can hold my head up at the same time. Daddy thinks I'll be walking in two months! I lost my umbilical cord stump Aug 22 so now I can take a "real" bath instead of a sponge bath, but so far that hasn't worked out so well because I cry more in my "big girl bath" than I do when I get a sponge bath on the counter! I like to smile a lot and I laugh in my sleep but mostly I love to swing in my swing or play on my play mat. I hit the rattles on my play mat like a pro and my parents are sure I am doing this intentionally!

Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks. I have some videos to post too but I'm having issues getting them on this site, but I'll add once I figure it out!

Quinn--so many pictures in just a few days

I don't have time to write because I'm sleeping mostly these days, but I did want to post pictures for my family--especially those out of town who want to see more of me. I'll write more when I actually wake up!

So much for being prompt! 41 weeks

Ok Quinn,

So we were hoping our last post was just that, our last! But, you are obviously quite comfortable in your home, and I can't say that I blame you. Food will definitely be more boring when you come out! You've given us quite a run for the money in the last week. Our doctor sent us to the hospital Thursday night after our weekly appointment for a stress test and blood work because my blood pressure was high and you were already 4 days late so he wanted to make sure you were ok. I started having contractions at the hospital every 3-5 minutes right before we were set to leave but they were not so bad that I needed medicine so the nurse told me I should go home and eat and shower and try to take a nap in case they got worse because I won't get to do any of that in the hospital. The contractions stopped being as strong pretty soon after we left the hospital. So we were in the clear at that point but Mommy has been having contractions all weekend but no labor. Mommy and Daddy even went walking at the mall for an hour plus around the neighborhood but that is not getting you out. You should see the outfits Mommy's wearing--it's a nice combination of Daddy's gym shorts and his white undershirts. No pictures were taken of that, though, because it was not a good look!

So for sure, we are going to get to meet you tomorrow as we are being induced tomorrow morning!!! We're not sure if you're going to come out on your own once the medicine gets going because during the ultrasound Thursday night, the sonographer measured you at 9lbs 6oz!! You're going to be quite big and you haven't been trying to come out yet, so a c-section may be happening. We'll be happy to have you come out however you want and we just can't wait to see you!!

Here's a picture of Mommy today, August 2, at 8 days past your due date.

Last Pregnancy Post-I hope!

Hey Quinn,

I think this may be our last post. You're due in a week and a half and I am hoping you get here before that, but will try to be patient! We went to the doctor today and we're not dilated at all but your heartbeat is strong and all looks good, so I think you're just too comfy. We'll see you when you're good and ready at this point.

Here are a couple of pictures of Mommy at 38 weeks and 2 days--

Look how great your nursery looks. Daddy made almost everything in there--the crib, toy chest, and shelving unit.

Pregnancy Stats:
Weight gained: right at 50 pounds
When I actually looked pregnant: about 5 1/2 months
Favorite foods: doughnuts, pop tarts, pretty much anything junky--hence the 50 pounds!
Foods I usually love but didn't sound as good as they used to: pizza, french fries, ice cream
Strange food cravings: really none, but I did want root beer and I hadn't had soda in more than three years. I went for diet, caffeine-free root beer for a while and then Sprite and went back to water only midway through
Things I never believed when I heard other moms say would happen to me but are very true:
You won't be able to tie your shoes--this happened at about 7 months!
You can't see your feet--I have decent-sized fee but my belly sure passed those up!
You'll have bad heartburn--I never had heartburn before but I guess when your stomach is basically in your throat, food doesn't have anywhere to go!
You won't be able to sleep--no joke, I must have gone to the bathroom 5-7 times a night--poor Daddy!
You'll have trouble going to the bathroom--more than one reason for this...I won't go into detail!
Favorite thing about being pregnant: feeling you move, kick, hiccough, roll over. You were very active so I always knew everything was ok.
Biggest challenge/discomfort: extreme swelling, in my hands, feet, ankles and calves. The very worst part was that my hands got so swollen I had to get my wedding ring and band cut off two weeks ago. I wanted to cry. But it was also hard to go down stairs b/c my skin on the top of my foot would rub against my ankle front! My feet would swell around my shoes and I'd have major marks from the edges of my shoes on my feet! I eventually had to wear flip flops only in the last month of pregnancy. And I got sweaty feet in the last month of pregnancy.
Dad's favorite part of pregnancy: building the crib and preparing the nursery; watching you move in Mommy's belly; hearing your heartbeat
Dad's biggest challenge of pregnancy: having to tie Mom's shoes; having to walk super slow at all the stores to keep up with Mom; always bumping into Mom's belly when walking by

Quinny we cannot wait to meet you. You are already so loved and you will always be incredibly loved. Now just come on out so we can show you how much we love you!!

34 weeks, 3 days--June 17, 2010

Quinny,

Mommy just wanted to give you a quick update. We went to the doctor on the 17th and you, my little dear, already weigh 6 1/2 to 7 pounds, at least, per the doctor! So much for where the books approximate! You're going to be big, between 9 and 10 pounds at 40 weeks and considering your Mommy's family has babies 2 weeks late, that would make you between 10 and 11 pounds! Mommy has been doing too much "good" eating! We have another appointment in two weeks so we'll see where you are then. That might be the week we get an ultrasound, or it might be the week after, but it will help the doctor figure out if you need to come out early so no c-section is needed! We don't think we'll be needing those newborn clothes we have at all since they are all up to 8 pounds and it sounds like you'll be past 8 pounds even if you come out 1 or 2 weeks early!

34 weeks, 1 day--June 15, 2010

Hey Quinn,

Check out how big you've gotten!

You're 19-22 inches and about 5-6 pounds approximately from what the books say. The doctor says you're going to be a big baby and at our appointment two weeks ago, you were measuring two weeks ahead, so let's hope you slow it down or come early so you come out easy!

You are a busy kiddo. You are constantly squirming around and still have hiccoughs all the time, almost once a day. Mommy is very tired these days but has a hard time sleeping because she just can't get comfortable. Her back hurts, you should see how swollen her feet, ankles, and calves are, and she can't keep up with Daddy when she walks anymore. She's gained 43 pounds as of this morning and is hoping that number sticks! You're definitely getting plenty of nutrition and plenty of junk. Hopefully that doesn't pass on to you when you're eating solid foods because Krispy Kreme and Pop Tarts will definitely be off your menu if Mommy has her way!

We can't wait to see you. Your sheets are being washed right now and Daddy's ready to make your bed. It's hard to talk about much else besides you and every day seems like forever because we're ready for you today.

Baby Shower #2-May 16

Hey Quinny,

We went to a second shower this weekend for you and it was so nice. Angie and Erin hosted the shower and your grandparents, aunts, cousin, and lots of Mommy's friends came. They all brought you lots of cute and useful stuff. Mommy's pretty sure there is nothing left to buy you, which is awesome. It was so good to see everyone who I haven't seen in a while and those that I only get to see at work. Angie and Erin did such a cute job with the invitations, cake, food, and decoration and you were definitely enjoying the punch! And, as usual, all of the girls looked so cute. Here are a bunch of pictures of the shower.
