First Sonogram!!

Ohhhh your first sonogram!!! At seven weeks, Dec. 7, 2009, we got to see you and hear your heartbeat. You're going strong at 146 beats per minute. Do you know Mommy's heart rate is only 65 beats per minute? You're definitely working hard in there growing--you're raspberry sized now at about 1/2 inch. We can't even explain the feeling of seeing and hearing you. We were so happy to hear you're healthy and strong and right on schedule in terms of size. And seeing you brought tears to Mommy's eyes. She couldn't see Daddy's eyes and he says he didn't cry, but she's not so sure! During the sonogram we could see you pretty clear at certain times, but the picture we got wasn't clear at all but it's definitely you in there.

Mommy's feeling pretty nauseous these days. She's not throwing up, but doesn't want to eat anything other than crackers and bread! And she's passing up on her old favorites like the iced sugar cookies Daddy brought home for her. Daddy's ready to start making your crib. He got a router table and bits now so he is going to start practicing rounding edges so your fingers don't get stuck. And he's also got your crib design almost finalized so we're going to have to go buy the wood. It's been really cold outside but he's going to work on building despite the cold. He's already a great Daddy!

Weeks 5 and 6

There's not a whole lot to report for the last couple of weeks. We haven't found out anything new, other than you're about the size of a blueberry, but we'll keep calling you Poppy. Mommy is definitely starting to feel more nauseous and doesn't think much food sounds good to eat. And, she's sleeping from about 8pm to 6am every night! We did take a picture of Mommy as you can see on 12/4/09 which was 6 weeks and 4 days and you'd think by looking at the picture that you can definitely see a baby bump, but that's really just Mommy's regular bump! We just wanted to have a "starting point" to show your growth. Currently Mommy hasn't gained any weight which is appropriate until the second trimester.

Daddy is still crazily trying to figure out what will be the best stroller for you and has already designed the crib he'll be building you. It's going to be really special to have him build the bed you'll sleep in. He's really a great builder.

Monday we get to hear your heartbeat and we can't wait. We'll fill you in on the details of that later.

First week as parents-that we were aware of!

It's been a big week for us. We told your Grandma Carol on Sunday that we were pregnant and she's so excited to meet you. We didn't tell your Grammy Jeannette because we wanted to wait until your Grammy Wanda got home from Kosovo-where's she's been the last 11 months. She got home Thursday night, the 19th of November, and we were so excited to see her, and so excited to tell your two Grammies you were on your way. Grammy Wanda said she knew right when she saw your Mommy, but I don't know about that! Your Great Grandparents (Carl and Elfreide) were at the airport too and they were happy to hear the news as well.

We went to the doctor Thursday before the airport and found out you're supposed to be here on July 27, 2010. Your Mommy was 2 weeks late, so feel free to come on or before your due date! Dr. Almendarez, who will be delivering you, said everything looks good and that we have to go back in a couple of weeks for blood work and we'll get to hear your heartbeat. I'm not sure if Daddy will be able to handle that--he'll probably start bawling!

He's so excited. He's been searching the Internet for strollers and cribs. He wants to make your crib and I think that will be really special. And he wants to make sure his little Poppy has all the coolest and most modern stuff. We were at a car show today and he was scoping out all the strollers to see if he liked any for you. He saw one and even asked the parents about it and he's already found it online. He acts all tough but he's definitely a big softie and I'm sure you'll have him at your beck-and-call!

As for your Mommy, I am really tired. Apparently there's a lot going on in my body and you're already growing so fast, so my body is tired. I feel pretty good otherwise--no nausea yet and no funny cravings. So far, you're being a great little kiddo!

Oh, I almost forgot, we told your Auntie Karla, Uncle Mark, Auntie Kim, and Auntie Megan that you're coming and they're all thrilled. Auntie Kim's son, your cousin Cooper, is really excited. You'll love your cousins--you'll have five when you're born. There's Connor, Chloe, and Cooper from your Auntie Kim and Uncle Curt. There's Seth from your Aunt Laura and Uncle Allen, and there's Ellie from your Auntie Megan. Ellie will be about 6 months older than you so you'll be growing up through the same things at about the same time as her. You've got great cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents and we all are excited to see how you grow in the next months.

We just found out you're you!

It's November 15, 2009 and we confirmed that we're pregnant today. We actually took two pregnancy tests last night but the lines were pretty faint (though they were there) so your Dad wasn't convinced that we were pregnant! So we bought another test today that is digital and says pregnant or not pregnant and then he was convinced! Silly Dad!

This is pretty great news. If you want the whole story, we actually bought the digital test at Target and then I "tested" at Starbucks which is appropriate considering that's Daddy's favorite place! We looked at the results in the car and both started crying. We can't wait to find out more about you.

We haven't been to the doctor yet but from doing research online, it looks like our due date is July 26, 2010. I haven't been having any symptoms other than some tenderness which is crazy that you're already causing considering you're only the size of a poppy seed right now!
